I attended the University of Miami, Coral Gables Florida, where I received a BA in history; I was an Industrial Engineer in Peru, South America for 2 years after graduating college; was a Retail Department Store Manager for more than 7 plus years. I moved to New Hampshire in 1973 and obtained a Master’s of Education degree from Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire and have ninety hours beyond the Masters. I retired from public school education in 2003 with over 25 years in various school systems in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. I have held the positions of: teacher; elementary school principal; Business Administrator and acting Superintendent of Schools.
Over the past 10 years I have taught at two area colleges: New Hampshire Community College Manchester; and Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth. I am currently teaching 3 online classes and 2 face to face classes. The courses I have taught are: Education; Critical Thinking; Government and History courses. My specialty is Civil War history; and I have developed a Topics in History course about this subject. I authored an article; Distance Education is it for Everyone?, in the Pedagogy Journal 2007, New Hampshire Community College System. I hope to write a book on the Civil War when I retire. I have taught for Franklin Pierce University (Manchester, Concord, Keene, and Portsmouth), at the Graduate and under Graduate level. Teaching the subjects of: Management; Education; Critical Thinking; Government and History courses. I also supervised Student Teachers while I was at Franklin Pierce.
I have lived in Goffstown since 1990; I was Business Administrator for the Goffstown School Department from 1990 to 1993. I spent three years on the Goffstown Budget Committee and was chair for a year. I served on the Goffstown Ethics Policy Development Committee. I belong to the following organizations: President of the Condo Association where I live for over 10 years; Sons of Confederate Veterans; New Hampshire Society Sons of the American Revolution (I am a Past State President and currently serve as their Historian). I preside as emcee for various New England Contingent, Sons of The American Revolution color guard, at their living history presentations and events around New England. I am also a member of the General John Stark Scenic Byway council.
My wife Jane and I, enjoy traveling around the country to historical sites, especially Civil War battlefields, and Revolutionary War sites. We also enjoy sharing our love of colonial history with students of all ages around New England and we have been as far south as Gate City, Virginia. We give presentations, in colonial attire, on colonial New England life, including such topics: as the role of women; family life; the role of children and their toys and games. We also do Civil War living history presentations.
