GOFFSTOWN'S
PERFECT STORM

In these dire economic times, we are seeing neighbors losing their jobs, and worse still, losing their homes.
No one is going out on spending sprees right now, and neither should our town and school board! For our governing authorities to turn a blind eye to the economic
realities facing the residents of Goffstown is both immoral and unconscionable.
The only exception to the above is the courageous vote by the budget committee to reduce both budgets.
Not only are our ever-escalating taxes causing immense financial hardship for families, our high rate of taxation adversely affects the value of every home in Goffstown.
The downturn in the housing market is bad enough, but when you couple that with our high property taxes, we have a ‘perfect storm’ on our hands.
Years of reckless and wasteful spending by our town and school boards has resulted in Goffstown having one of the highest tax rates around.
As a consequence, home buyers choose to buy in other towns, saving themselves thousands of dollars in property taxes.
Those selling their homes in Goffstown are forced to reduce their prices in order to compensate for our high taxes.
So as property taxes go up, demand for housing goes down, thus lowering home values even further.
In light of this man-made ‘perfect storm’, I ask you, my fellow weary taxpayers, to attend the Deliberative Meetings at the High School on February 2nd and February 4th at 7PM to support the budget committee’s recommended cuts.
It will be too late to complain when you receive your tax bill.
