August of this year will indeed be a sad month for sportsmen, conservationists, outdoor recreationalists and especially employees of our Fish and Game Department as they loose their Executive Director, Lee Perry, to retirement. Having become the Executive Director for the department in September of 2003, Lee has been an outstanding example as director. He has served well the department, the state and the sportsmen and women during his four year term.
August will come seemingly too quickly. "We’ll be moving back to Arizona," said Lee. "All of our kids and seven grand-children are out there. That, plus the fact that I’ve been working nearly forty years, is reason for me to retire." I’ve known Lee since he took office and have found him to be an inspiration to employees of the Fish and Game Department as well as to the people of New Hampshire.

According to Glenn Normandeau, Fish and Game Commission Chairman, a search has begun to fill the executive director position, upon Perry’s retirement this August. "A search committee has been named and Cheshire County Commissioner Robert
Phillipson, Jr. will chair it," Normandeau explained. "The search committee will conduct a very comprehensive and equitable search for a new executive director, in accordance with the state statute," Normandeau said.
The commission expects to cast a wide net and recruit for the position through many channels, including the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and the Division of Personnel and Fish and Game Department websites. The search committee’s activities will conclude with the forwarding of a single recommendation to Governor John Lynch this summer. Commissioner Normandeau advises potential candidates that all applications must be postmarked by April 26, 2007 in order to be considered. The position is classified and serves a term of four years.
