A Great Gift to Give for Christmas

Well folks, it won’t be long before Christmas is upon us. There is always that last minute mad rush to find gifts for family and friends. Often times we become bewildered as to what items to give for gifts for this special time of year. Well, if the person or persons you have in mind for gifts enjoy fishing, why not consider giving them the wonderful book, "Field Notes On Fishing", by the late renowned outdoors artist and writer John Noga? This book is a comprehensive guide to fish and fishing for New England’s freshwater four season anglers and those who would like to be.

Field Notes On Fishing is a fishing book that is easy to take with you anywhere you go. Noga’s book covers winter, spring, summer and fall fishing. It also covers equipment, maintenance and safety tips, the nature of fish, fish species as well as educational information and tips. John covers fly-fishing, bait casting, jigging, trolling, spin fishing, wading and numerous other subjects in his book. His book is beautifully illustrated throughout with John’s superb artwork. He covers fishing from A to Z. The many illustrations include methods of fishing, fish species, tackle, ways to rig up, waters to fish (ponds, lakes, streams) and how to fish them successfully. John’s illustrations alone are well worth the price of only $12, which includes postage. Readers can order the book by calling R and R Associates at (603) 429-3893 or sending your check to them at: 8 Watts Landing, Litchfield, N.H. 03052.

John W. Noga's "Field Notes on Fishing"

A valued and cherished friend, mentor and neighbor, John W. Noga was an ardent outdoorsman and conservationist as well as a nationally known illustrator of wildlife and outdoors subjects. John was the recipient of numerous national and regional awards for his drawings of wildlife and other outdoors subjects. His intricate works were featured in many national, local and regional publications as well as weekly in the New Hampshire Union Leader. His outdoors and wildlife strips were also featured in the New York Sportsman, New England Out-of-Doors, the Goffstown News and National Wildlife Federation publications. His other works included magazine covers for the Maine Sportsman, New Hampshire Fish and Game and others. In 1976, the Manchester, New Hampshire silver coin, celebrating the U.S. Bicentennial, bore a design by John Noga.

In 1981, Noga received the "Writers Merit Award" from the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the National Wildlife Federation for a decade of work promoting "National Hunting and Fishing Days" in his strips. He was a recipient of the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation’s "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 1993.

John Noga’s "Field Notes On Fishing" is a four season fishing book that I am proud to possess and still enjoy today as you will too. This book is great for adults and children alike and well worth giving as a present for only $12. To all of our readers, very best wishes for Christmas and the holidays.
