Animal Rights Activists to Continue Their Attacks
Hunters, anglers, trappers and our New Hampshire Fish and Game Department are again being targeted by the New Hampshire Animal Rights League, whose motto is, “Animals should have the right to run if they have legs, swim if they have fins and fly if they have wings”.
On Saturday, August 1, 2009, the N.H. Animal Rights League hosted their 1st annual “Animal Awareness Day” at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, in Derry, N.H. from 10:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Included in the program was a presentation by Linda Dionne, President of the N.H. Animal Rights League, at 10:15 a.m. concerning the state’s pheasant stocking program and how they want to obtain legislation to outlaw the stocking of pheasants in New Hampshire.
At 3:45 p.m., Jamie Kordack was scheduled to give a presentation on Fur Farming/Trapping, Hunting/Fishing and Fish and Game.
Regretfully, I was unable to attend that presentation, but I have no doubt as to what it was about.
Given out at the meeting was a colorful magazine from the Humane
Society of the United States entitled, “Wildlife Management Afowl - Pheasant Stocking”.
There are a number of articles in it including: Flying in the Face of Wildlife Management Ethics, Pheasants as a Tool of Youth Recruitment to Hunting, Canned Hunting of Pheasants on Private Preserves, Pheasant Stocking by Wildlife Agencies and more.
Also at the meeting, the N.H. Animal Rights League handed out a flier entitled, “Now Is The Time to Outlaw Pheasant Stocking”.
The flier was given with a petition to: “End the New Hampshire Fish and Game’s pheasant stocking program”. The flier requested the reader to:
- Sign our petition
- In 2010, when there will be legislation to outlaw pheasant stocking, contact your legislators and ask for their support.
You can keep further informed by going to the NHARL’s website at:
www.nhanimalrights.org.
The N.H. Animal Rights League hasn’t given up on its mission and are, in fact, also going to try again to break up Fish and Game and its commission in 2010.
Sportsmen and women need to stand strong together and prepare for yet another fight to preserve our traditions and our N.H. Fish and Game Department.
