Local contractor pleads guilty to tax evasion

CONCORD - The owner of a Goffstown construction management company has pleaded guilty in federal court to tax evasion for his failure to report cash wages and withhold taxes.

Forty-nine-year-old Richard Taylor, owner of R.H. Taylor Drywall, faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced in June. He has been placed on probation until then.

Taylor admitted Thursday that he paid many of his employees in cash in 2004 and failed to report the wages or pay taxes on them. As a result, the government lost about $109,000 in tax revenues.
