Pascucci write-in candidate for Selectman
Local
businessman semi-serious about running
GOFFSTOWN
- Steve Pascucci, owner of The Village Trestle, has
tossed his top-hat into the local political ring with a
last minutes write-in campaign for Selectman.
Pascussi, well known in the community for his charitable
work and who hosts a painting show on GTV, was
approached over the weekend by local residents Bill
Gordon and Bill Wynne with the idea of
running.
Currently, incumbent Scott Gross and resident David
Pierce are running unopposed for the two open seats on
the Board of Selectmen.
In an interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader,
Pascucci, 51, said "It's just to get people to get
up and vote is why I did this." He also said,
"People are taking this seriously. They're
serious and they're sending me money." So
far, Pascucci has returned any campaign contributions he
has received, money he hopes will instead be donated to
the Goffstown Food Pantry, one of the organizations he
actively supports.
But many residents have come out in support of
Pascucci's candidacy, pointing out he has name
recognition - and business skills - to become an
effective selectman.
"Under the mask of a crazy stunt, it has a great
deal of sincerity," said Gordon. "Steve
does not bring - as far as I can determine - an agenda
to the table, other than just the best for the town and
the best for the citizens. Being a businessman, he
seems to be a person that is going to be very fiscally
conservative."
Resident Dawn Brown echoed some of Gordon's
points. "I think he would be good for the
community. He's got a lot of good ideas and they usually
work out well when he puts his mind to it."
Voters will get their chance to decide on Pascucci's
candidacy on Tuesday. March 9th.
