consider expanding Westlawn
GOFFSTOWN - At
their Monday meeting this week, selectmen considered expanding one of the town's cemeteries.
Westlawn Cemetery, which as been around since the late 1800s, is getting full.
By expanding, selectmen hope to get another 100 years of burials out of it.
The Department of Public Works said the land across the street from Westlawn could be used for an expansion. It is nearly 1.5 acres and could have room for more than 5,400 spots, an improvement over the current situation, according to public works officials.
"We still have a few more years for cemetery lots here, but within the next three years, we should be full," Jason Gantas of public
works told the Union Leader.
Gantas said there are some single plots scattered about, but the family plots will be gone soon.
