Police are investigating a series of vandalism incidents which damaged property at three Goffstown businesses.
The D’Angelo sub shop at 649 Mast Road, as well as the Village Eatery and Sully’s Superette on Main Street were damaged, in the early morning hours of May 29.
In each case, it appears a projectile went through a large window with considerable force, leaving a large hole in the glass.
One of the few leads in the case is evidence recovered at the scene of one of the incidents.
"A small canister, a CO2 canister similar to the ones used in pellet guns, was found outside D’Angelo’s,”" said Sgt. Robert Browne, of the Goffstown Police Department.
"We’re assuming it’s some kind of projectile. It looks like it was right around 4 a.m., because one of our officers checked D’Angelo’s just before 4
a.m."
The vandalism was discovered a short time later. No projectiles were found at the scene.
"Anyone that has any information, we’d be glad to hear about it," said Browne.
"If it ends up being school-aged children, often times we’ll hear about it through the
schools."
The vandals cracked the safety glass front window of the Village Eatery, a popular breakfast spot on Main Street. The restaurant remained open for business, with regular customers adding questions about the broken window to their orders for bacon and eggs.
The building is owned by Gaston "Gus" Choquette.
John Denoncourt, owner of Sully’s Superette, also on Main Street, said he feels fortunate that vandalism has been a rare occurrence.
"We have to replace the glass, but we haven’t had that happen very many
times," said Denoncourt. "Maybe, in the last 20 years, three times."
"It seems to come in spurts," said Browne. "If someone is going to break one window, they’ll break five or six. Hopefully, whatever joy someone got out of last night, that was
it."
