GOFFSTOWN - Pumpkin fun continued in the downtown village yesterday, coming to a climax with the Giant Pumpkin Regatta.
Ten groups entered the regatta, including several local schools, the town board of selectmen, and the fire and police departments. Each entry decorated its pumpkin boat and dressed according to a particular theme.

Brian Hansen, the manager of Granite State Environmental, picked a 1970s theme. He turned his pumpkin into a giant floating disco ball and wore an Elvis custom for the occasion.
Selectmen chose the controversial Grasmere roundabout as their theme, girding their pumpkin with a wooden collar that resembled a mini roundabout, complete with toy trucks and fire engines. Standing in the hollowed out interior was selectmen chairman John Caprio, in a Minuteman uniform.
