School Board
meetings now broadcast live
GOFFSTOWN - Monday's meeting of the Goffstown
School Board was broadcast live for the first time in years.
Aired on GTV-16, the board's arrangement with GTV helps, at
least partially, to alleviate the conflict that has existed
for years with meetings of the board of selectmen, who also
hold meetings on Monday nights and are also broadcast live
on GTV-22.
Recently, the school board refused to consider citizen
requests to move their meetings to a different night so that
residents could attend both meetings. They found such
a change in their meeting schedule "too
inconvenient". The problem was compounded by the
fact that residents also could not watch school board
meetings live since GTV only provided taped replays on
irregular schedules.
Only recently has the school board agreed (but has yet to
fully comply) to providing DVDs of the meetings within a
week of those meetings to the Town library.
School board meetings are held every other Monday night at 7
p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 1
and will again be broadcast on GTV-16.
