Goffstown
seeking its oldest resident
GOFFSTOWN - Goffstown
officials are looking for the oldest town resident to be
the new holder of the Boston Post Cane, carrying on a
tradition that dates back to 1909.
The most recent recipient of the cane, Colombe
Ouellette, died April 30th at the age of 108.
Ouellette was delcared to oldest resident in September
1995.
To qualify, a person must be living in Goffstown at the
time the cane is given to him or her. Residents of
nursing homes are eligible for the cane, but they must
have lived in Goffstown before entering the home.
