Georgantas
Voted Off Planning Board
Failure to stand his ground on kindergarten site, easement rights,
and perceived belligerence towards public at
planning board meetings cited
GOFFSTOWN - Richard Georgantas, a member of the Goffstown Planning Board for over 10 years, was unceremoniously voted out of office by Goffstown voters at the March 14 Town Election. One of three candidates for two three-year terms on the board, Georgantas garnered 1,398 votes (28.5%), while incumbent JoAnn Duffy landed 1,951 of 4,895 votes cast (39.8%) and former board alternate Alan Yeaton received 1,546 votes (31.5%).
Since the election, the GRA has interviewed numerous voters about the unexpected ouster of Georgantas. Many of those we spoke with indicated their dissatisfaction with Georgantas' handling of the proposed Glen Lake site for the kindergarten and the Union Street easement rights issue. Also, many voters we spoke to mentioned a perceived belligerence by Georgantas towards the public at planning board meetings as another reason they voted against him.
The Goffstown Residents Association would like to express its thanks and appreciation to Mr. Georgantas for his many years of service to Goffstown.
